MORE MEN LINING UP FOR PLASTIC SURGERY

In an industry whose clientele is traditionally female, a number of men have begun coming around. According to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the number of cosmetic procedures for men has increased by more than 106% since 1997. CBS 13 news team member Tony Lopez files a report on this new development for CBS Sacramento, where he found a male cosmetic surgery patient who openly and proudly displays his new “macho makeover.”

FROM THEIR EYES TO THEIR THIGHS, MORE MEN ARE CHOOSING TO GO UNDER THE KNIFE FOR A LITTLE NIP AND TUCK, OR EVEN SOMETHING LIKE A HAIR TRANSPLANT FUE, OR SIMILAR SURGERIES.

BRIAN MEUSER IS WALKING INTO HIS MID-40S WITH HIS HEAD HELD HIGH, BUT THAT WASN’T THE CASE A FEW SHORT MONTHS AGO.
“I DON’T WANT TO CALL IT A MIDLIFE CRISIS, BECAUSE THAT’S SO CLICHE, BUT MAYBE IT IS,” HE SAID.
AND MAYBE, THIS EL DORADO HILLS PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR THOUGHT, HE COULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
“I’VE ALWAYS KIND OF STRUGGLED WITH MY WEIGHT A LITTLE BIT,” HE SAID.
SO BRIAN MADE THE MOVE.

Looking good in hard times

In the past, men typically would not show as much concern for their appearance the way women do, which is why people usually hear more women than men having a facelift in Beverly Hills. When asked why the number of male clients has increased, facial plastic surgery veterans like Dr. Davis B. Nguyen, MD agree that hard times have made everyone think competitively, even down to their appearance.

Brian, who was always conscious of his weight, finally turned to liposuction to remove excess fat around his belly, as well as the dreaded “love handles”. Some people would opt to get alternative treatments, like cool sculpting from Cool Med Spa Miami, but this is the older method and people do like it. The other popular procedures include rhinoplasty, eye lifts, and treatment for gynecomastia, which removes fatty deposits around the breast to reduce the appearance of “man boobs”. Unbeknownst to many people, receiving gynecomastia treatment is becoming increasingly popular, with somewhere like this gynecomastia surgery Denver clinic just one of the many places in different states that offer this type of plastic surgery, as well as the ones here.

What motivated him?

Brian didn’t want to use the term “mid-life crisis” initially, but that’s essentially why he took this bold step. Being bothered by his “pudgy” appearance during his entire adult life served as his stimulus to create a leaner and more youthful look for himself. Brian seems to have gotten what he wished for and is certainly proud of it. He told us about a friend of his that decided to get a neck lift in Birmingham in the UK after moving there with his family. It seemed this might have also played a part in Brian’s decision. Though he prefers not to wave a flag about his decision, he has no qualms about discussing it when asked.

At what cost

Thus far, the considerable cost of these procedures has not been a deterrent. As per practitioners, prices for a face lift in Los Angeles start at $10,000 and can escalate upwards of $30,000 or more, depending on the nature of work to be done. For satisfied customers like Brian, it was money well spent, to rejuvenate his lifestyle and give himself a fresh start. Now that’s a sound investment.
